How to Get Donors to Talk About Your Nonprofit

We all want people to talk about the great work we’re doing at our nonprofits. Whether it’s donors telling other donors to give, or people spreading the word to those in need so you can have a bigger impact -- but how do you get them to actually share the great work you’re doing? Here’s the thing, it doesn’t happen by accident -- it happens by design.

To recap what we covered in the video, here are the 3 ways you can get donors talking about your nonprofit:

  1. Tell your donors that something they think is true is actually the opposite. Is there a common misconception about the work you’re doing? Consider sharing an interesting fact that disproves this misconception.

  2. Share a story that interrupts an expected pattern. This is a great opportunity to share about the ways your nonprofit has innovated over the past several months.

  3. Show them a picture or share a fact that’s really surprising. Something that’s so interesting, they’ll want to immediately share it with the people around them.
