Show Notes
Today on 7 Figure Fundraising, host Trevor Bragdon sits down with Tarren Bragdon, co-creator of the 7 Figure Fundraising system, and CEO at the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA), to discuss their live, online workshop.
To start with, Trevor asks Tarren how FGA has adapted to the global health crisis. Early in the pandemic, he met with people over the phone or video conference; now, he's finding more donors willing to meet in person. Even though they haven't been able to have in-person workshops because of COVID-19, Tarren and Trevor have taken this time to revamp their material. They've found that just bringing your live content to a digital platform isn't feasible. Virtual content needs to be tighter and more impactful.
The first section of the workshop focuses on mindset. They encourage fundraisers to have a partnership mindset instead of a supplicant one. The workshop also covers the donor mindset; major donors think differently. They invest in leadership, not businesses, so donors buying into the leadership strategy is vital.
Through a structured approach, the workshop next covers preparedness. Fundraisers must prepare to feel comfortable in donor meetings. People give because they believe in the people or the mission. A compelling pitch tells the story of your mission and how you'll execute it in a concise, compelling way.
There are three levers fundraiser should be pulling to increase their revenue streams.
Getting current donors to give more.
Retaining current donors.
Adding new donors.
Of these three, the first two are the most important, you likely already have to donors you need to double your organization's revenue. Most nonprofits could 3-4X as much with 2X as money. So the workshop helps organizations identify their big vision and what they would do with more money.
