15x Rule

When it comes to meeting with a potential donor, we all know warm leads are typically easier to close than cold leads. It might seem obvious, but have you ever looked at what that means for how much effort and time it takes to close warm vs. cold leads?

In our Raise 100k Workshop, we break down the process and estimate rates for closing both cold and warm leads.

Using the 15X rule and 100X rule can help you estimate how many qualified leads you need to hit your new donor goals.

15X Rule: 15 X 10 new major donors  = 150 Warm leads

100X Rule: 100 X 10 new major donors = 1000 cold leads

For example, if you need 10 new major donors and pursue warm leads, you’ll need 15 times that or 150 qualified leads. Using the 100x rule you’ll need 1000 cold leads.

Your numbers might be slightly different, but we've found that using these formulas have given good estimates for the organizations we've worked with over the last three years.

So here’s the question you should be asking yourself: are you maximizing your warm leads?

Do you have clear systems in place to ensure every potential donor you meet, every referral you get, gets followed up with?

In the Raise 100k Workshop, we show you how to create a system for consistently finding new donors and build your specific plan for raising $100k in new revenue for your nonprofit.
